Dreams Bahia Mita Wedding Review: Emily & Kenden
Why did you decide to have a destination wedding?
A destination wedding had always been our dream. After doing research and finding a venue we really liked, we were able to make the dream a reality.
What were your biggest concerns about planning a destination wedding? What were you struggling with the most before reaching out to EverAfter Travel?
One of our biggest concerns was how the communication was going to go. We chose to have our destination wedding in Mexico, so we were a little nervous with how we would communicate with them and how to make sure everything came together perfectly for our special day.

What were your "must haves" for your destination wedding? What were the deciding factors for choosing your resort?
We knew we wanted to have a beach wedding. Whether if it was right on the beach, or by the beach, having the ocean as a background was extremely important.
It was also important to find a family resort, as we have a lot of family members who are young and could not attend the wedding if it was at an adults only resort.
All inclusive was also a must have. The costs of weddings for food and drinks can quickly add up, so we knew if we chose an all inclusive it would hopefully help keep the price a little lower.
We ultimately chose our resort by looking at pictures on the internet and social media. We noticed the resort we had chose had a lot of good reviews regarding the weddings and the photos online were beautiful. It was also able to accommodate our want of having the ocean as a background, along with multiple different locations to have the reception.
Outside of the wedding day/night we wanted to make sure the resort had a variety of different restaurants we could enjoy during our trip.

Tell me about your wedding e.g. events, venues, special touches, etc. How many guests did you invite to your destination wedding and how many people ended up attending? If you're comfortable sharing, how much was the total cost of your destination wedding celebration (not including things like travel expenses, your dress, etc.)?Â
We ultimately had an incredible experience with our wedding.
We were both a little nervous with how things would turn out as we did all our communication with the coordinator via email and were selecting decorations and everything all through email rather than in person.
We had our wedding in August in Mexico, so it was incredibly hot. The resort was very accommodating and allowed us until 11 am on the day of the wedding to change the location of either the ceremony or the reception.
We ultimately did change the location of the reception to inside where there was AC and we were extremely happy we did that. It ended up turning out just as beautiful inside as it would have outside.
Decorations to us were something that was not extremely important, so we decided to do less decorations to save money to be able to use for photography as that was very important. Even with going with less decorations it still turned out beautiful.
The resort provided us with incredible service as we were getting married and took great care of us while we were there, including decorating our room with rose petals on the night of the wedding.
Luckily both of us are very laid back individuals so we knew no matter what we would love everything about it, but it ended up blowing us away and we were extremely happy with how everything came out.
We invited around 40-45 guests and we had 35 guests attend. Not including travel expenses and other expenses the entire wedding cost around $10,000.

Was there anything you splurged on for your destination wedding and if so, did you feel like it was worth it?
We did not splurge on anything for the wedding. The package we chose only had the photographer for a few hours, but we ultimately spent more money to have the photographer for longer as capturing the entire ceremony and reception was extremely important to us so we could remember the special night for many years to come.
Was there anything you tried to save on for your destination wedding and if so, did you feel like it was worth it?
We tried to save on decorations so we could use our money for other things that were more important to us. We definitely fell like it was worth it. Although we had minimal decorations it still turned out beautiful and were happy to be able to use our money on other things.

What were the most helpful online websites/social media groups/content creators/YouTube links that helped you during the planning process?
Google, Instagram, and Facebook were the most helpful. We were able to use google to read the reviews about the resort. Instagram was very helpful to see pictures of the resort, as well as seeing pictures of other weddings that had already happened at the resort. And finally Facebook was a huge help. We were able to join a few different Facebook groups for the resort where we were able to obtain a ton of great information about our trip and our wedding.
Shout out to any wedding vendors you loved e.g. photography, DJ, makeup, etc.
We used all the vendors that the resort suggested. Ceci with Adventure Photos was amazing. She was so kind to us and knew all the great spots to take pictures. For the reception she did an incredible job staying out of the way but was able to capture a ton of great photos of all our guests having the time of their life.

What kind of feedback did you hear from your guests? This could be about the resort, the wedding, and/or EverAfter Travel.
All our guests had nothing but great things to say about the resort. There were minor complaints about small things, but that is normal when it comes to traveling, especially out of the country.
The food at the resort was incredible and all our guests enjoyed trying out all the different restaurants the resort had to offer.
All our guests said the wedding was incredible. The food at the wedding blew everyone away! I think everyone was a little nervous about the food as it was at a very large all inclusive resort, but multiple guest said it was the best food they have ever had at a wedding. The service at the wedding was also incredible!
All our guests had nothing but good things to say about Jodi with EverAfter Travel. Everyone loved how easy she made it for everyone to book the trip and how she was so kind and attentive to anyone's needs. There were a few hiccups when it came to checking into the hotel, but Jodi was on it and made sure everything got taken care of right away. Jodi's communication was top notch and we will definitely be using her again for our future travels.

What advice do you have for other couples planning a destination wedding?
Go for it!!!! Make your dream a reality and enjoy every second of it. We had the best of time and are so happy we chose to do a destination wedding.
What were your favorite parts about your destination wedding?
Our favorite parts were getting to spend time with family and friends the days before the wedding and the days after the wedding.
It was a lot of fun to be able to make a vacation around the wedding and to be able to escape reality back home and enjoy time at one of our favorite places to visit with the people that mean the most to us.
It was also a lot of fun to have the reception and then be able to keep the night going at a different bar or restaurant on the resort with our friends and family.
Is there anything you would change about your destination wedding?
I wouldn't change anything. Everything came out perfectly and we had an incredible night that we will remember forever.

Why did you choose to work with EverAfter Travel for your destination wedding?
Jodi with EverAfter Travel was referred to us by a friend. We knew we wanted to use a travel agent and with so many of them out there, we were really happy when we had a friend suggest we use Jodi.
Although we didn't have a huge amount of guests, we knew it would be easier to use a travel agent to help with everything rather than trying to do everything on our own.
Jodi was unbelievably amazing, and made everything so easy for us. We knew after our consultation call with Jodi that we no longer had to stress. She was very detailed about the process and that continued to show throughout our time working with her.

How did working with EverAfter Travel make planning your Dreams Bahia Mita wedding easier/better/less stressful? Would you recommend EverAfter Travel to other couples planning a destination wedding?
Working with Jodi took all the stress away from booking a destination wedding. She made the entire process seamless and stress-free.
Jodi went above and beyond to ensure that every detail of our trip was perfect. The communication was exceptional. Jodi was always quick to respond to any questions we had, and she kept us informed every step of the way.
Jodi's knowledge and expertise really showed in the thoughtful recommendations and well-planned itinerary she provided. When traveling out of the country it can be scary and stressful trying to book the trip and transportation, but with Jodi everything was stress free!
The entire trip exceeded our expectations, and it's all thanks to Jodi's dedication and professionalism. We will definitely be using her again for our future travel needs.
