Why did you decide to have a destination wedding?

Size of wedding, location (beach wedding was the dream), and guests had to travel regardless!

What were your biggest concerns about planning a destination wedding? What were you struggling with the most before reaching out to EverAfter Travel?

Not understanding the room blocks and concerns communicating with the resort.

What were your "must haves" for your destination wedding? What were the deciding factors for choosing your resort?

Beach wedding, good food, and nice accommodations for guests.

Tell me about your wedding e.g. events, venues, special touches, etc. How many guests did you invite to your destination wedding and how many people ended up attending? If you're comfortable sharing, how much was the total cost of your destination wedding celebration (not including things like travel expenses, your dress, etc.)? 

We invited about 125 and 50 came. We had a welcome dinner with all of our guests which was a great way to kick off the celebration! Total cost was over $20,000.

Was there anything you splurged on for your destination wedding and if so, did you feel like it was worth it?

Mostly everything that we paid for was included in our package (which was a splurge but overall, worth the cost).

We did hire a mariachi and it was fun but very quiet. We timed it for after the ceremony so unfortunately we did not have much time to enjoy it.

Not a “splurge” but we did pay extra to upgrade our room to an amazing suite—totally worth it and would have paid more than we did.

Was there anything you tried to save on for your destination wedding and if so, did you feel like it was worth it?

We played our own music at the welcome dinner. We ended up being late (oops) and getting caught up with the buzz of our guests during the welcome dinner, so it would have been worth it to have an MC/DJ for that event.

We also went with smaller centerpieces that we couldn’t use because of the wind. Had they been bigger maybe that wouldn’t have been a problem?

What were the most helpful online websites/social media groups/content creators/YouTube links that helped you during the planning process?

I got information from friends. I did join a Facebook group for destination brides, but only got some useful information. I couldn’t find much on the resort that we got married at. Jodi was helpful in addressing all of our questions.

Shout out to any wedding vendors you loved e.g. photography, DJ, makeup, etc.

We hired everyone through the resort and they were all great!

What kind of feedback did you hear from your guests? This could be about the resort, the wedding, and/or EverAfter Travel.

Great feedback on everything! Only a couple of guests struggled with trying to make last minute room changes through the third party site the hotel uses. Resort was perfect for different guest “energy levels” (or how much they like to party vs relax). Great food at the resort and great accommodations.

What advice do you have for other couples planning a destination wedding?

Start early, communicate with your onsite coordinator often and don’t let the small stuff get in the way from enjoying your special day. We were pretty minimal with decorations and everything still turned out so so beautiful.

What were your favorite parts about your destination wedding?

Everything! Ceremony, DJ, photographer, everything all on the beach! It was perfect.

I had reached out to a couple of other travel agents and didn’t feel I was given the right information, or too much information without pausing to make sure I understood everything.

Jodi made me feel very comfortable and addressed all my questions right away, and made sure I understood what was happening.

Absolutely! Jodi answered so many questions for me and my guests (taking a big stress load off of the wedding couple which is huge!).

She proactively checked in with us and all of our guests and made sure things were going great and as expected. Jodi was absolutely incredible!!!

I cannot recommend Jodi enough! Jodi provided us with excellent service throughout the entire wedding planning process. She answered all of our questions, made us feel comfortable and made sure we understood everything about how the booking worked, what the resorts requirements were, and kept us informed and updated every step of the way.

She provided multiple recommendations but took many factors into consideration, including their five-star services, that they come highly recommended with great customer reviews, and that they pay fair wages. What she recommended was exactly what my group was looking for!
