Beaches Ocho Rios Wedding Resort Review (Ocho Rios, Jamaica)

I just returned from a week at Beaches Ocho Rios in Jamaica, and it was lovely!

This is a family-friendly resort, so I wouldn’t necessarily recommend it for a honeymoon or romantic getaway, but it’s perfect for a destination wedding, vow renewal, or family vacation.

First, here are some of the resort highlights:

  • All-inclusive, family-friendly resort in Ocho Rios, Jamaica

  • Seven dining options with Italian, French, Mediterranean, and more

  • Seven bars/lounges including a swim-up bar, piano bar, and nightclub

  • Just over 200 rooms with a compact/vertical layout

  • Five pools and two whirlpools

  • Daily activities and nightly entertainment

  • Variety of land and water sports

  • Red Lane Spa and fitness center

  • Kids Camp and Teen Zone with an Xbox Lounge

  • Certified Autism Center with staff certified by the IBCCES

  • 27,000 square foot water park

  • Complimentary WiFi

And now for a breakdown of the pros and cons:

PROS of Beaches Ocho Rios:

  • Staff are so friendly and go above and beyond for guests

  • Service is excellent throughout the resort

  • Grounds are kept very clean and the landscaping is well-maintained; attentive housekeeping services

  • Private beach area so there aren’t any vendors selling things

  • Soft, white sand and clear turquoise water

  • Reef located offshore keeps the water calm which is perfect for spending time in the ocean

  • Water sports galore are included e.g. kayaking, paddle boarding, Hobie Cats, banana boat rides, etc.

  • Snorkeling excursions, scuba diving, and glass bottom boat rides are also included

  • Awesome variety of lunch options to choose from: handmade pizza, grilled items, jerk chicken/pork, Jamaican patties, and even ice cream for dessert

  • French creperie with sweet or savory crepes (who knew I was such a fan of crepes, but they were delicious!)

  • Six varietals of Robert Mondavi wine (I sampled several and they were quite good)

  • Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee

  • Live nightly shows (can enjoy them while you’re still in the main pool which is unique)

  • Talented resort photographers capture special candid moments throughout your stay, and you can also schedule a complimentary photo session at sunset

  • Located close to the famous Dunn’s River Falls and lots of other fun excursions

  • Strictly enforced ‘No Tipping’ policy so you don’t have to carry cash around with you

  • Large water park with 11 slides that’s fun for all ages

  • Golf is included at Sandals Golf and Country Club nearby

  • Beachfront walkout rooms available where you can walk directly out onto the beach

  • Beautiful oceanfront pier venue for weddings and vow renewals

CONS of Beaches Ocho Rios:

  • Smaller beach (common in Ocho Rios which is more mountainous)

  • Resort is older and showing its age in some places

  • Located about two hours from the MBJ airport (although it's a smooth ride with AC and a Red Stripe)

The pros far outweigh any cons at Beaches Ocho Rios, and bonus, it’s the least expensive of all the Beaches Resorts.

If you’re looking for a wonderful vacation where the resort staff will make you feel like family during your stay, this is the place!
