Tuscany tops countless couples’ bucket list. Whether you’re longing to get married at a historic winery in the hills of Chianti or simply want to wander the winding medieval streets, Tuscany will make you feel the amore (love).

But, with tens of millions of travelers heading to the same place each year, it’s essential to plan your trip with someone that has on-site connections, like me.

I just returned from a week in Tuscany, and I can personally vouch for the exceptional quality and first-class service of each of these hotels. Even better, hardly any tourists know about them so you'll be able to savor the real soul of Italy and truly connect with the one you love.

Located in the vineyard-draped heart of Chianti, the Fonte de’ Medici dates back to the 1400s. It’s surrounded by silvery-green olive groves and lush grape vines. Owned by the wine-producing Antinori family, Fonte de’ Medici boasts deluxe suites and apartments with vintage furniture, marble furnishings and antique ceramics. Guests here can enjoy a tasting of prize-winning red wines or watch the Tuscan sun set behind rows of cypress trees. This villa-style hotel is also the ideal setting for a rustic-chic wedding in the Tuscan countryside – or simply perfection for a romantic couple’s getaway in Europe!

Tucked in the wine country outside of Cortona, La Corte dei Papi is an oasis of Tuscan tranquility. Lovingly restored, this boutique property lies in a postcard-perfect valley framed by grape vines and terracotta farmhouses. Dating back to the 1700s, La Corte dei Papi will seduce you with its elegant design and traditional grace. The Papi family has owned the property for generations – with the hotel currently being run by the welcoming Davide and his mother. Nature lovers can enjoy an evening stroll here on the relais’ vast grounds – strolling amidst fruiting vines and gnarled olive trees.

Castello di Spaltenna is a boutique hotel housed within an actual Tuscan castle! This extraordinary property contains the remains of a medieval castle and chapel, a cobblestone square ideal for catered events, and an osteria (restaurant) built in the original stone wine cellar. Rooms here feature exposed wooden beams and views of the surrounding vineyards. Additional on-site perks include an elegant spa and villa-style apartments.
